Plant Operations Manager

Industry: Heavy Industrial Machinery Manufacturing

Location: Lehigh County, PA

Base pay range: $132,000.00/yr - $142,000.00/yr

Summary:

The Chatham Group: Advanced Materials and Technologies Recruiting Firm is seeking highly qualified candidates for the role of Plant Operations Manager with a client in the Industrial Machinery Manufacturing industry. The Operations Manager will possess a strong background in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with demonstrable experience in managing complex teams and projects within the world of manufactured heavy industrial components such as compressor systems, furnaces, chillers, hydraulics, other rotating equipment, etc. You will be responsible for the overall site management of all North American contract client locations (16 and expanding) through establishing manufacturing parameters, efficiency metrics, total product maintenance protocols, and other quality assurance and customer technical services initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor operations performance metrics for efficiency, environmental regulations, quality assurance, total productive maintenance
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager to implement robust maintenance programs such as TPM, Preventative and predictive maintenance, and other asset reliability and performance initiatives
  • Track key Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics as an aspect of the reliability engineering program
  • Help implement ISO 9000/9001 certification
  • Perform customer technical services duties such as building customer relationships, work with vendors, and more to improve customer satisfaction
  • Lead safety training programs including training operators in a remote fashion
  • Assist with HMI, SCADA, PLC, DCS troubleshooting to maintain client operations
  • Assist quality teams with CAPA Investigations, Root Cause Analyses, Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc
  • Lead site process improvement projects
  • Manage a team of 15+ Area Managers (who lead site operators) at multiple remote client sites. This role may also involve traveling for site support.
Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 10-15+ years of experience in Plant Operations Engineering and Management in a manufacturing capacity, ideally in the heavy industrial sector
  • 5+ years of experience with managing teams of operators, operations supervisors, and area managers
  • Hands on experience with rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, chillers, etc
  • Working knowledge of continuous hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Demonstrable experience with training operators on new processes for the operation of new equipment
  • Lean manufacturing experience.. Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus
  • Strong aptitude with electromechanical systems, PLC/DCS, SCADA, HMI, GUI programming
  • Direct experience in large scale air compressor manufacturing

Compensation will be commensurate with experience level and relocation will be provided for qualified candidates. Travel for this role can be considered 20% as there will be requirements to service equipment at clients operational facilities throughout the United States, though mostly in the East and Southeast.
