Job summary

Chateau Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Illinois is seeking a dynamic Plant Operations Manager to lead maintenance, laundry and housekeeping operations in a long-term care setting.

You will recruit and supervise staff, manage budgets, schedule shifts, oversee fire drills and life-safety inspections, and ensure equipment and facilities meet safety standards while delivering clean, safe, and comfortable environments for residents and staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred; business and personnel management training preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, heating and air-conditioning. Licensure or certification in any of these areas a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and IDPH regulations relevant to housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance.
  • Experience in staffing, budgeting, and overseeing maintenance and facility services.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit staff by interviewing and verifying references to meet staffing needs.
  • Supervise scheduling to ensure uninterrupted service to residents and facility operations.
  • Oversee purchasing, storage and distribution of housekeeping, cleaning and laundry supplies.
  • Oversee life safety drills and inspections (fire, alarms, generators).
  • Maintain facilities equipment and systems in operating condition.
  • Be on call as needed to handle emergencies or urgent repairs.

We are seeking a dedicated Plant Operations Manager for planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting, budgeting, and physical management of the Maintenance, Laundry, and housekeeping department's employees and equipment in a way that maximizes cleanliness and order throughout the building and assures laundry services for both resident clothing and facility linen are maintained.

Plant Operations Managers must have the following:

  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • Some business and personnel management training is also preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, heating and air-conditioning. Licensure or certification in any of these areas a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and IDPH Regulations relevant to housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance.

As a skilled, driven Plant Operations Manager, you will:

  • Obtain staff by recruiting, interviewing, and verifying references in order to employ the number and kinds of personnel needed.
  • Supervise scheduling of sufficient staff to ensure uninterrupted service to the facility and residents at all times.
  • Supervise purchasing, storage, and distribution of all housekeeping, cleaning, and laundry supplies.
  • Oversee all fire, disaster, and evacuation drills for all shifts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Administrator.
  • Work as weekend Supervisor as part of Department head monthly rotation.
  • Be on call seven (7) days a week, 24 hours a day to troubleshoot in any and all kinds of emergencies or urgent repairs.
  • Schedule and oversee all life safety required inspections, fire alarm, sprinkler, generator etc.
  • Maintain all housekeeping, laundry, dietary, HVAC, and facility equipment in operating condition.
