Job summary

Rex Lumber, LLC. in Pearlhaven, MS is seeking a Plant Operations Manager responsible for all plant assets, employees and productivity across sawmill, planer mill and yard.

You will lead safety, quality and production, develop a trained workforce, manage budgets and report to the General Manager.

This role requires strong leadership, hands-on supervision of supervisors, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Computer literate with MS Excel and/or Lotus.
• Previous management experience; must be a trainer and motivator.
• Knowledge of maintenance of sawmill and planer mill machinery.
• Knowledge of lumber quality out of sawmill, dry kiln and planer mill.

Responsibilities

• Manage and motivate all supervisors and indirectly all mill personnel.
• Ensure safety of all employees by supporting safety education efforts and enforcement of safety rules.
• Monitor quality of lumber out of sawmill, planer mill and yard daily.
• Consistently meet production goals for the sawmill and planer mill.
• Oversee all expenses related to sawmill, planer mill and yard.
• Conduct meetings for mill departments and individual employees as needed.
• Monitor bottlenecks and resolve when found.
• Attend and conduct meetings.
• Work with Human Resources on placement and training of all mill personnel.
• All other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
