Plant Operations Leader - Ready-Mix & Safety

Job summary

CalPortland is seeking a Ready-Mix Plant Manager to oversee production, operations and site facilities. You will partner with batch men and drivers to plan, budget and manage safety and environmental compliance while ensuring personnel needs are met.

The role emphasizes cost control, productivity, and maintaining customer quality. A background in engineering/operations and experience with OSHA/CalPortland regulations are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years’ experience running a ready-mix operation including yard production and product delivery
• OSHA/MSHA regulations and requirements knowledge
• DOT regulations and requirements knowledge
• Experience managing groups of employees in multiple locations
• Experience implementing driver training programs (driving technique, truck maintenance, delivery, payments)
• Personnel management experience including hiring, performance reviews, wage issues and discipline a plus
• Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system a plus
• Strong command of Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety, environmental matters, cost control, production and maintenance for ready-mix facilities
• Establish and monitor production plans with accurate cost and inventory control
• Document production statistics and generate reports and analyses
• Oversee mobile equipment
• Manage capital and operating budget processes
• Develop plans to improve performance and reduce operating costs
• Ensure quality processes deliver a quality product
• Enforce OSHA/CalPortland regulations including safety investigations and training
• Collaborate with departments to ensure safety, environmental compliance and materials performance
• Maintain positive relationships with the local community
• Lead personnel management and development
