Job summary

Inspired Living at Kenner is seeking a dependable Maintenance Assistant to keep our community safe, comfortable, and well-maintained. You will perform routine and preventative work across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and equipment, respond to resident requests, and help prepare apartments for new residents.

You bring hands-on problem solving, 1–3 years of maintenance experience, strong communication, and the ability to work with a team, vendors, and regulators.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of related maintenance experience and/or training.
• Working knowledge of building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs.
• Healthcare or senior living experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and more.
• Respond to resident maintenance requests to keep apartments safe and comfortable.
• Complete repairs and projects including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, flooring, and equipment repairs.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents with repairs, painting, cleaning, and updates.
• Maintain common areas, walls, doors, floors, woodwork, and other spaces.
• Identify maintenance and safety concerns and address them per codes and SDS guidelines.
• Work with inspectors, vendors, and regulators as needed.
• Follow safety requirements, OSHA standards, and company policies.

At Inspired Living, our Plant Operations team helps create a community that is safe, comfortable, welcoming, and ready for everything the day brings. We're looking for a dependable Maintenance Assistant who enjoys solving problems, working with their hands, and keeping things running smoothly.

We are currently hiring for our Inspired Living at Kenner community!

What You'll Do

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance throughout the community, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generators, kitchen equipment, fire/sprinkler systems, and emergency equipment.
• Respond to resident maintenance requests and help keep apartments comfortable, safe, and in great condition.
• Complete repairs and general maintenance projects, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, flooring, and equipment repairs.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents by completing repairs, painting, cleaning, and other needed updates.
• Maintain common areas, walls, doors, floors, woodwork, and other interior and exterior spaces.
• Identify maintenance and safety concerns and take appropriate steps to address them.
• Work with inspectors, fire officials, vendors, and other regulatory agencies as needed.
• Follow applicable building codes, safety requirements, OSHA standards, and company policies.
• Properly handle and review Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and use appropriate precautions when working with chemicals or potentially hazardous materials.
• Respond to community emergencies and assist with repairs and emergency needs.
• Communicate clearly with leadership, residents, vendors, and team members.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of related maintenance experience and/or training.
• Working knowledge of building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs.
• Experience with building equipment and codes; healthcare or senior living experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to communicate professionally in person and over the phone.
• Dependable, hands-on, safety-minded, and willing to jump in when something needs fixing.
• A positive attitude and a "let's figure it out" mindset!
