Job summary

Inspired Living in Kenner, LA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform routine and preventative maintenance across the community. You will handle HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs, ensuring apartments and common areas remain safe and comfortable for residents.

You’ll respond to maintenance requests, prepare vacant units, and coordinate with vendors and inspectors while following safety guidelines and codes. A positive, proactive attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–3 years of related maintenance experience and/or training.
• Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
• Healthcare or senior living experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance throughout the community.
• Respond to resident maintenance requests and keep apartments safe and comfortable.
• Complete repairs and general maintenance projects (painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, flooring).
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents with repairs and updates.
• Maintain common areas and interior/exterior spaces.
• Identify safety concerns and address them promptly.
• Work with inspectors, vendors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
• Follow building codes, safety requirements, OSHA standards, and company policies.
• Handle Safety Data Sheets (SDS) properly and use precautions with chemicals.
• Respond to emergencies and assist with repairs and emergency needs.
• Communicate clearly with leadership, residents, and team members.
• Take pride in keeping the community safe and well-maintained.

We are currently hiring for our Inspired Living at Kenner community!

What You'll Do

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance throughout the community, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generators, kitchen equipment, fire/sprinkler systems, and emergency equipment.
• Respond to resident maintenance requests and help keep apartments comfortable, safe, and in great condition.
• Complete repairs and general maintenance projects, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, flooring, and equipment repairs.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents by completing repairs, painting, cleaning, and other needed updates.
• Maintain common areas, walls, doors, floors, woodwork, and other interior and exterior spaces.
• Identify maintenance and safety concerns and take appropriate steps to address them.
• Work with inspectors, fire officials, vendors, and other regulatory agencies as needed.
• Follow applicable building codes, safety requirements, OSHA standards, and company policies.
• Properly handle and review Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and use appropriate precautions when working with chemicals or potentially hazardous materials.
• Respond to community emergencies and assist with repairs and emergency needs.
• Communicate clearly with leadership, residents, vendors, and team members.
• Take pride in keeping our community safe, functional, and looking its best!

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of related maintenance experience and/or training.
• Working knowledge of building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs.
• Experience with building equipment and codes; healthcare or senior living experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to communicate professionally in person and over the phone.
• Dependable, hands-on, safety-minded, and willing to jump in when something needs fixing.
• A positive attitude and a "let's figure it out" mindset!
