Job summary

Raptor Materials LLC seeks a Plant Mechanic for our aggregate operation. You will perform mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and execute repairs to maximize plant uptime.

The role involves fabrication, welding, and assisting with major repairs while following MSHA safety guidelines. A part-time or full-time scheduling note is not indicated beyond straightforward day shifts.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in mechanical/electrical maintenance in an aggregate or quarry environment.
  • High School diploma or better; trade/technical certs are a plus.
  • Trade or technical certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mechanical and electrical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
  • Fabricates, welds, and cuts to maintain equipment reliability.
  • Dismantles and reassembles complex machinery and mine equipment.
  • Leads repairs and supports continuous improvement efforts as needed.
  • Adheres to MSHA guidelines and maintains safe work practices.

Job Title: Plant Mechanic

Work Schedule: Day shift, flexible hours. Overtime as required.

Full or Part Time: Full time only

Reports to: Operations Manager

Objectives

To work as part of a team to ensure the uninterrupted operations of the aggregate plant mine in order to maximize operational efficiency in an environment of continuous training and improvement; to maintain, troubleshoot and repair plant and mine mechanical, equipment in accordance with plant and mine operating, MSHA guidelines.

Essential Functions

  • Performs work in the areas of mechanical maintenance, mine equipment repair, and/or electrical maintenance.
  • Fabrication, assembling, welding, and cutting using sound maintenance practices designed to maintain high equipment reliability.
  • Dismantles, repairs, and reassembles complex mechanical, mobile, mine and electrical equipment.
  • Serve as a member of the Continuous Improvement Group to resolve daily maintenance and electrical difficulties.
  • Performs proactive/predictive maintenance through the use of advanced tools (thermograph, vibration, ultrasound, oil analysis, etc.)

Specific Accountabilities

  • Troubleshot potential concerns are required to achieve and maintain maximum productivity.
  • Report maintenance problems to the appropriate supervisor, coordinator or engineer for action and/or participate in corrective actions if appropriate.
  • Keep up to date on all maintenance and safety procedural changes and be instrumental in developing new procedures as required.
  • Make preventive/proactive inspections and document findings as determined by the maintenance coordinator and continuous improvement groups.
  • Primary support and leadership in major repairs to facilitate plant operations.
  • Perform necessary tasks to ensure good housekeeping for safe and efficient operation.
  • Fill out and follow up on work orders and assist, when necessary, in locating and issuing materials.
  • Safety operates mobile equipment as required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Identify, report, and assist in resolution of safety and environmental concerns and work practices that may affect the Health & Safety of employees or other parties.
  • Work with little or no supervision and in harmony with co-workers.
  • Write and/or contribute to daily reports and other reports about special projects or incidents as well as using computers for entering work orders, etc.
  • Perform the duties of crew leader when called upon.
  • Perform any and all other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Related experience in mechanical/electrical maintenance repair, shift repair or quarry equipment repair. Trade or technical certification is an asset.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places, airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting, artificial lighting. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
