Job summary

CMC is seeking a capable operations leader to manage site-wide activities across accounting, shipping, receiving, safety, and production. You will drive safety, quality, and productivity while guiding a diverse team toward common goals.

Responsibilities include budgeting, asset planning, and cross-department collaboration to meet strategic targets. The role requires strong communication and regulatory compliance, with a focus on sustainable growth.

Qualifications

• Must maintain safety and environmental concerns.
• Experience in operations, marketing, or sales in metal recycling is a strong plus.
• Must control budgeted labor and overtime costs; maintain fiscal responsibility.
• Familiar with CMC accounting policies, RONA, Working Capital and Profit.
• Extensive knowledge of all areas of operations.

• Direct all Area activities including accounting, shipping, receiving, operations, safety.
• Champion adherence to Guiding Principles, Code of Conduct, Culture and policies.
• Establish financial and non-financial goals with clear work plans and accountability.
• Plan budgets, assets, labor forecasts and capital expenditures for short- and long-term production.
• Collaborate with departments to achieve company goals.
• Develop and lead a Safety Culture aligned with CMC standards.
• Control inventory dollars and tons to meet turnover targets.
• Guide staff on hiring, discipline, development and performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and minimize legal risk.

What You'll Do

• Lead in a professional manner toward achieving company performance goals with emphasis on safety, quality and all company standards
• Direct all activities of the Area including accounting, shipping, receiving, operations, safety and environmental
• Champion and ensure adherence to CMC’s Guiding Principles, Code of Conduct, Culture, and policies and procedures
• Must be able to establish operational goals, both financial and non-financial, with clear work plans, and hold management staff accountable
• Responsible for the planning of budgets, company assets, labor forecasts and capital expenditures for short-term and long-range production
• Collaborate with different departments to ensure successful accomplishments of company goals
• Develop and lead a Safety Culture that is consistent with CMC standards
• Control inventory dollars and tons by meeting inventory turn standards set forth by the company
• Provides guidance and direction to staff including hiring, disciplinary action, staff development, goal formulation and performance review
• Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations, minimizing the company's exposure to adverse outcomes of complaints, litigation, audits and inspections

What You'll Need

• Must be able to maintain and be familiar with safety and environmental concerns
• Past successful experience in operations, marketing, sales in a metal recycling facility or other related industry a strong plus
• Must be able to control budgeted labor and overtime costs; as well as, maintain fiscal responsibility for all departments' budgets
• Understands and executes CMC accounting policies, RONA, Working Capital, Operating Profit, and Business strategies.
• Extensive knowledge of all areas of operations
• Preferred familiarity with material handling equipment and how to properly maintain (maintenance programs) and repair equipment
• Must collaborate and develop strong relationships with people to ensure successful accomplishments of plant and regional goals
• Ability to make sure all employees are trained and well prepared to carry out their daily tasks to ensure everyone's safety
• Able to clearly communicate expectations, issues and feedback
• Must be able to problem solve in all areas of plant
• Proficiency with computer operating systems, to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate up, down, and across the business

Your Education

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
