Job Title: Plant Manager

APEL Extrusions Location: Phoenix, AZ

APEL Extrusions, Inc. is an independent extruder, finisher, and fabricator of aluminum extrusions. The company operates six extrusion presses and offers a full range of finishing capabilities across over 600,000 square feet of modern manufacturing space, employing approximately 300 people. With facilities in Calgary, Canada; Coburg, Oregon; and Phoenix, Arizona, APEL serves the commercial, residential, and industrial markets of Western Canada and the Western United States.

Job Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for safely leading and managing all operational aspects of the Phoenix facility, including extrusion, anodizing, painting, fabrication, maintenance, shipping, and purchasing. Overseeing more than 100 employees working around the clock, the Plant Manager ensures safety, productivity, quality, and timely delivery of products within budget. Reports to the VP of Operations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for operations to monitor and improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  2. Act as the main contact for Phoenix operations, collaborating across departments to develop and implement manufacturing strategies that optimize performance and financial results.
  3. Develop technical and operational capabilities through training and development programs.
  4. Monitor safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards; ensure actions are taken to protect employees and the environment.
  5. Coordinate with department managers to ensure resource availability and customer requirements are met.
  6. Ensure compliance with the company's Quality Management System.
  7. Assist in developing and managing operating and capital budgets.
  8. Collaborate with the technical team to innovate and implement new technologies in operations.
  9. Maintain compliance with OSHA, environmental, and other regulatory requirements.
  10. Work with leadership to prepare the operation for growth and expansion.
  11. Participate actively in the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning and communication.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a relevant field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 10 years of managerial experience in manufacturing or plant operations
  • Preferred: Experience in extrusion and finishing processes, MBA/MS degree
