Plant Manager – Decatur, IL
ADM West Complex

Position Summary: The Plant Manager for ADM West Complex will lead the extraction, refinery, and modified lecithin facilities within the Decatur West complex. This union facility includes a workforce of approximately 350 employees. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the extraction or oil refining processes and demonstrate strong leadership skills to manage priorities across various areas, including safety, quality assurance, environmental compliance, production, cost management, and colleague development. The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations while driving long-term strategic initiatives to ensure sustained success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Leadership: Demonstrate a strong commitment to leading, supporting, and actively participating in safety initiatives, including values-based safety efforts. Foster a culture of safety throughout the facility.
  2. Operational Management: Direct all aspects of plant operations, including safety and environmental compliance, production efficiency, cost optimization, yield improvement, and sustainability. Ensure manufacturing quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  3. Customer-Focused Communication: Understand customer requirements and effectively communicate them to the workforce, ensuring alignment across all production processes.
  4. Performance Development: Oversee performance management and development for all salaried employees, providing coaching, feedback, and guidance to foster professional growth.
  5. Capital Project Oversight: Manage capital projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and execution, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  6. Community Engagement: Maintain positive relationships with the local community, acting as a representative of the company’s values and commitment to responsible operations.
  7. Team Collaboration: Promote collaboration and teamwork across departments, including production, maintenance, and engineering, to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  8. Strategic Vision: Develop and implement a long-term strategic vision for the facility, focusing on growth, innovation, and competitive positioning within the market.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  1. Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of oil refining processes and the ability to implement process improvements and adapt to changing demands.
  2. Leadership & Motivation: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a diverse team of employees, demonstrating leadership qualities across all levels of plant personnel.
  3. Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, capable of providing clear direction, feedback, and guidance. Ability to translate complex technical information for various audiences.
  4. Results-Oriented: A results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving divisional goals and optimizing performance.
  5. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions based on data and factual information. Adept at identifying and addressing operational challenges.
  6. Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  7. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of large complex manufacturing production management experience, preferably in a processing environment.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $139,200.00 and $255,300.00, with additional compensation through annual bonus and long-term incentive plans.
