Job Overview

The Plant Manager will provide leadership and is responsible for the operations related to the Civil and Construction and Lineman Tool and Equipment business units at our Centralia, MO location. You will be responsible for safety, personnel, productivity, on-time delivery performance, cost, budgeting/forecasting, and asset management. Additionally, you will manage and develop a team in a fast-paced environment with a commitment to process improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery performance, and inventory management. You will deploy company and factory policies and strategies to staff throughout the manufacturing operation and translate them into business, team, and personnel goals.

A Day In The Life
  • Maintains a safe working environment consistent with all local, state, and OSHA requirements.
  • Manage and direct overall manufacturing activities of the Business Units.
  • Originates, measures, and improves key indicators for the business unit (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost).
  • Ensures that product quality is maintained at acceptable levels.
  • Enhances the LEAN culture by ensuring the production area remains clean and well-organized through “continuous improvement” and 5S. Implements and drives continuous improvement activities by eliminating non-value-added activities in the manufacturing process (waste elimination).
  • Develops budgets and forecasts. Approves expenditures for supplies, materials, and human resources, ensuring efficient use of materials, labor, and equipment to meet productivity and customer requirements.
  • Establishes work requirements and ensures production schedules are met.
  • Develops staff and fosters a culture within the business unit dedicated to high standards of quality and customer service.
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10-15 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment; union experience strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing; Operational Excellence or Lean Certification strongly preferred
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of operational metrics and managing these metrics
  • Experience with forecasting manufacturing needs and hours to meet key objectives
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and training skills
  • Dynamic, results-oriented, metric-driven, disciplined leadership
