The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Plant Manager 3 at Olympic Corrections Center.
Olympic Corrections Center (OCC) is a 381-bed male facility located near the Hoh Rainforest. This facility houses minimum security incarcerated individuals and offers treatment, work, and vocational programs to help ready incarcerated individuals to transition back into the community. OCC also has outside work crews to serve the community as well as fire crews that work alongside Department of Natural Resource employees.

This position manages, supervises, and directs all physical plant operations that enable OCC to be in compliance with federal and state laws for constructions/maintenance of buildings for staff and incarcerated individuals.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Plan, direct, and execute alterations, construction, and repair of buildings, equipment, grounds, boiler plant, water system, wastewater treatment plant, alarm systems, air handling units, electrical, oil and gas heating units, auxiliary. power systems, locking and security systems, kitchen equipment, composting and recycling, telecommunications and laundry equipment.
- Administer phone and voicemail systems.
- Plan, assign, and review the work of staff, adjusting assignments and schedules to maintain adequate staffing levels and respond to fluctuation of workloads.
- Provide on-the-job-training. Serve as a positive role model for all Maintenance staff.
- Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals.
- Resolve staff issues, recognize and counsel employees on work-related activities and career development.
- Prepare designs, materials lists, and cost estimates.
- Consult and comply with permitting and regulatory agencies.
- Formulate project management schedules.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
- Organize and supervise the Maintenance Department Safety Program.
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills.
- Prepare documents for long-term capital planning.
Required Qualifications:
Four years of supervisory experience in operation and/or maintenance of physical plant in large industrial, commercial or public establishment which may include high-pressure heating or power plant.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
- Construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, plumbing, telecommunication and electric systems and building fixtures and equipment, materials and supplies used in building and equipment maintenance and construction.
- Preparation of plans and specifications for construction and alteration of building.
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Ability to:
- Plan, assign, coordinate and supervise work of maintenance construction and operation of employees, patients or incarcerated individuals.
- Plan long range maintenance programs.
- Prepare comprehensive reports.
