Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee operations including safety, quality, production, maintenance and capital planning. The role will drive cost-effective performance while meeting customer requirements and regulatory standards.

You will lead safety initiatives, mentor management, manage budgeting and purchasing, and ensure products meet quality specs. A bachelor’s in a related field is preferred; engineering background is a plus; strong communication and leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent; engineering background a plus.
• Engineering degree is an asset for the role.
• High School diploma or GED required; supervisory/management experience in industrial settings advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead plant operations including safety, quality, production and maintenance.
• Oversee regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, HACCP and related agencies.
• Prepare monthly budgets and review financial performance; take corrective actions.
• Manage capital projects and asset development for long-term success.
• Ensure finished products meet quality standards and specifications.
• Oversee local purchasing and energy reduction initiatives.
• Mentor and develop plant management and supervisory personnel.

The Plant Manager will oversee operations which include environmental, health & safety, quality, production, maintenance, capital planning and execution in a cost-effective manner while meeting all customer requirements.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Support, mentor and develop plant management and supervisory personnel through regular coaching and formal development tools.
• Lead all safety improvement initiatives and create a safety-based culture.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with all regulatory agencies including, OSHA, EPA, HACCP and other local and regional agencies.
• Prepare monthly reports, analyze financial budgets and take corrective measures as needed.
• Maintain efficient and timely flow of all raw materials received and ingredients shipped.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts in all areas of responsibility.
• Review and lead local Capital Projects, planning process to ensure compliance and development of assets for ongoing success and improvement.
• Ensure all personnel properly trained and equipment is in good working order to meet ongoing and future business needs.
• Assure all finish product shipped is in accordance with all quality standards and specifications.
• Effectively manage and reduce energy use at facility.
• Manage local purchasing activities.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in a supervisory/ management position in an industrial or plant setting.
• Rendering industry experience is a definite plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred; Engineering degree is an asset.
• Labor relations background and leadership preferred.
• Detail oriented; highly organized.
• Ability to work well with internal staff.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Self-starter; self-motivated.
• Good math and computer skills.

Working Environment

• Job functions will be carried out in a plant/manufacturing environment.
