Position Summary/Objectives

Our Muskegon Site is seeking a Plant Manager to lead, own, and direct all production activities at the site while reporting to the Site Manager. The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing manufacturing processes, maintaining production equipment, delivering on the Annual Operating Plan (AOP/Budget), and ensuring safe, on-time production of quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations. Additionally, the role involves driving continuous improvement and managing plant operations to optimize performance.

Essential Job Functions

1. Lead the manufacturing plant to meet safety, quality, productivity, service, and efficiency goals, including delivering the AOP/Budget.
2. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
3. Coordinate with professional staff to meet regulatory and statutory obligations.
4. Determine staffing needs and work with union leadership to ensure compliance with the CBA and resolve labor grievances.
5. Maintain accurate production records and reports.
6. Develop supervisory staff in production, warehouse, and maintenance, and conduct regular meetings for guidance.
7. Ensure all supervisors are trained in plant functions, safety, and regulatory procedures.
8. Conduct labor and machine studies to inform cost and budget planning.
9. Manage equipment downtime and repairs.
10. Control inventory of products and supplies.
11. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions for production, warehouse, and maintenance.
12. Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy work environment.
13. Manage team performance through mentoring and performance appraisals.
14. Allocate resources effectively to address production changes.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, or related field, with 5+ years management experience in manufacturing, or over 10 years relevant experience without a degree.
• Manufacturing experience; chemical industry experience preferred.
• Union environment experience, including contract management and grievances.
• Data-driven with experience establishing performance metrics and financial analysis.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP skills are a plus.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Knowledge in Environment, Health, and Safety in chemical manufacturing.

Position Details

Work hours are from 8 am to 5 pm, with flexibility required, as the plant operates 24/7/365 across a large facility.
