We are seeking a dynamic Plant Operations Manager to lead daily production and operational functions with a strong focus on food and employee safety, team development, continuous improvement, and efficient manufacturing practices. This role is responsible for overseeing plant performance in areas including quality, safety, productivity, cost control, and compliance with regulatory and company standards. This individual will also support onboarding, training initiatives, and maintain flexibility to meet the evolving needs of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead production line operations to meet targets for safety, quality, efficiency, and output.
  • Prepare and monitor departmental budgets, cost variances, and resource planning (labor, materials, and scheduling).
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and food safety regulations.
  • Drive communication and coordination across departments, with vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans based on productivity and quality performance data.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Production Supervisors to identify and execute cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support staffing efforts by working with staffing partners and internal coordinators to fill positions.
  • Assist in the resolution of employee incidents, report investigations, and performance documentation.
  • Champion safety initiatives, including near-miss reporting and monthly safety audits.
  • Review and maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
  • Monitor production waste and develop strategies for reduction.
  • Oversee supervisor team across shifts, filling in as needed to maintain operations.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping and facilitate wage adjustments.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Food Technology, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of industry experience, with progressively increasing leadership responsibility.
  • Minimum 5 years in a management role; servant leadership approach preferred.
  • Deep understanding of GMPs and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of food and personnel safety regulations (e.g., SQF, FDA, OSHA).
  • Strong business acumen and ability to analyze and apply data to drive decisions.
