The Plant Manager oversees all operations within the Dunbarton manufacturing plant, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective production. This role is responsible for leading production, quality, maintenance, and process improvement teams while driving a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. This leader must also ensure compliance with all environmental and regulatory standards and align plant activities with the strategic objectives of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all plant operations, including production, quality control, maintenance, and safety.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to optimize production efficiency, maximize output, and reduce costs.
  • Set performance goals and metrics for each department and monitor progress toward achieving targets.

Safety and Compliance

  • Champion a culture of safety across all plant operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
  • Drive initiatives to improve safety practices, reduce incidents, and promote employee well-being.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure the production of high-quality products that meet customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Lead quality assurance team to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective & preventative actions & projects.
  • Lead lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives & projects to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to enhance production efficiency.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, including managers, supervisors, and operators.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment and promote teamwork across all plant functions.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set development goals, and support ongoing training and development.

Budgeting and Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the plant’s annual budget, including production costs, maintenance expenses, and capital expenditures.
  • Monitor and control spending to ensure efficient use of resources and meet financial targets.

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement long-term strategic plans that align with company objectives.
  • Participate in planning and decision-making to align manufacturing operations with market demands and company growth goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in manufacturing leadership roles, preferably in the steel industry, with experience in general fabrication, machining, welding, paint, packaging, shipping. Proven experience in managing medium to large-scale production operations.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance.
  • Expertise in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in using production management and ERP systems.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with plant staff, executive leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • This position demands a seasoned manufacturing leader with a passion for efficiency, safety, and team development, capable of taking a strategic view while managing day-to-day plant operations.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily based in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Regular exposure to industrial conditions, including high temperatures, noise, and physical hazards.
  • Occasional travel may be required for corporate meetings or training.
