Job summary

Tremco Construction Products Group (CPG), part of RPM International Inc., seeks a Plant Manager for its Columbus, GA facility. You will lead daily production, ensure safety, quality, service, and cost targets, and drive EH&S compliance while managing staff and capital projects.

Responsibilities include leading a lean manufacturing system (MS-168), coordinating with senior management, and fostering staff development and performance feedback to meet strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 3 years of management experience in a comparable manufacturing operation.
  • Experience with SAP/ERP and lean manufacturing is required.
  • Ability to use Excel, Word, and SAP in daily duties.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety of staff, visitors, and equipment per NA Manufacturing Safety Program.
  • Lead manufacturing team to high performance using lean tooling.
  • Interface with senior management to align goals with strategy.
  • Directly or indirectly manage site personnel and staffing.
  • Plan short- and long-term projects including capital planning.
  • Monitor investigations of variances and keep budget-focused.
  • Drive talent development, coaching, and performance feedback.

Tremco is currently looking for a Plant Manager in our Columbus, GA facility.

The Plant Manager manages daily production operations to meet Safety, Quality, Service and Cost objectives. Ensures supply chain execution in the provision of finished goods. Establishes and/or executes operating policies and procedures to achieve EH&S standards, compliance, production schedules, product quality standards, customer expectations/satisfaction and operational cost targets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the safety of staff, visitors, equipment, and facility in accordance with the North American Manufacturing Safety Program.
  • Ensures execution and compliance with EHS requirements.
  • Leads the manufacturing team to excellent performance through a structured lean manufacturing system (MS-168) with the use of Operational Excellence tools.
  • Ensures that staff is competent to perform all required functions.
  • Interfaces with senior management to ensure manufacturing goals are consistent with strategic direction.
  • Responsible for managing employees, either directly or indirectly, that are assigned to the site.
  • Determines organizational objectives and defines structure.
  • Undertakes long and short-term planning and supervision of projects including management of the capital process for the site.
  • Oversees, either directly or indirectly, investigations of labor, cost and process variances and deviations.
  • Participates in annual budget preparation and is responsible for managing results to the budget.
  • Ensures team members achieve their potential and the teams meet their goals.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity in hiring and promotion decisions.
  • Effectively and efficiently onboards new employees.
  • Conducts periodic performance evaluations and provides ongoing performance feedback, maintaining clear and timely documentation.
  • Coaches and develops employees to ensure talent is developed and retained.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

The educational minimal requirement for the Plant Manager position is a Bachelors' Degree.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

A minimum of three years of management experience in a comparably sized manufacturing operation with similar products, manufacturing technologies, ERP systems, and operational processes. Experience leading the transfer, startup, or integration of manufacturing operations between facilities is strongly preferred.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • SAP/ERP experience

  • Ability to apply excel, word, and SAP applications to daily job responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, taste, smell, and lift up to 25 lbs.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:

The salary range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $150,000 - $200,000. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
