Job summary

Western International Gas & Cylinders, Inc. seeks a Plant Manager to oversee all daily acetylene plant operations, from production to distribution, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

You will actively support the company’s Values, Mission, and Vision while driving safety, quality, and productivity. The role requires 7–9 years of Industrial Management experience, a Bachelor's degree, and a demonstrated ability to lead and develop plant staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7–9 years of Industrial Management experience.
  • Experience leading plant operations is preferred.

About the Company: Western International is a leading wholesale supplier of acetylene—the most efficient fuel gas for welding and cutting applications. Through additional products and services, Western provides customers with a turnkey solution for receiving acetylene and maintaining their cylinder fleets.

About the Role: The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the Acetylene Plant from production and distribution to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. Work every day in a way that actively supports and accomplishes the Values, Mission, and Vision of Western International Gas & Cylinders, Inc.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity
  • Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
  • Ability to manage safety programs that help ensure the protection of employees and public. Recognize, correct and/or report unsafe conditions
  • Understand and follow established product quality procedures and guidelines to insure customers are receiving expected quality and purity of product
  • Recognize that each task can be amended and refined for the betterment of the employee and/or company and work toward that improvement
  • Provide training and educational materials to staff as necessary
  • Achieve a level of knowledge to assure obtaining the highest level of productivity and quality
  • Understanding of Human Resources principles of hiring, reviewing, terminating, promoting, directing, supervising, and motivating plant personnel
  • Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
  • Repair or replace plant equipment as needed

  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience: 7-9 years

  • Strong commitment to Safety
  • Prior background with maintenance a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude with problem solving skills
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Must be able to roll or lift 75 lbs. cylinders.
  • Able to travel occasionally
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work extended shifts and/or weekends
