This role requires experience managing and operation a large Nat Gas fired Power Generation Facility.

Job Description

combined cycle natural gas power plant located in the Austin TX area. The Plant Manager is responsible for directing all Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities at the facility. The Plant Manager leads the O&M staff to assure an adequate supply of manpower, tools, equipment, and external support is available to provide for the safe and efficient 24/7 operation of the facility. The Plant Manager assures that the facility is operated in compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and other regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe, reliable, and regulatory compliant operation of the Bastrop Energy Center
  • Key decision maker and leader in the strategic planning and implementation of overall initiatives in operations and maintenance of the Facility, including P&L, staffing and long-range planning
  • Responsible for developing/implementing safety & environmental procedures and ensuring a safe & compliant working environment is maintained.
  • Actively manage the day-to-day operations of the Facility with a focus on safety, continuous improvement, and cost management
  • Oversee development, implementation, and updates to all plant procedures, site policies, training, and work practices
  • Provide regular updates, reports, and performance statistics to asset management, business partners and others as directed
  • Oversee the preparation of required periodic reports, budgets, environmental compliance reports, and other documentation to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance
  • Monitor plant performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs
  • Responsible for selecting, training, supervising, and developing management staff and O&M personnel
  • Overall responsibility for managing, planning, and executing maintenance outages and plant modifications/improvements
  • Ensure all plant activities are performed in compliance with company policy, local, state and federal permits, laws, regulations and accepted industry standards
  • Ensure compliance with applicable NERC & FERC standards
  • Responsible for fixed O&M, variable cost and long-range major maintenance/capex budget development, tracking and reporting
  • Accountable for decisions, performance, and behavior of assigned staff
  • Potential to travel for company business which may include travel by private automobile and commercial airlines
  • May be required to perform other duties as directed

Requirements: Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field or equivalent experience in lieu of education
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in the power generation industry with five years of direct experience in operations and maintenance of power generation facilities
  • A minimum of three years of experience supervising technical, supervisory and administrative personnel
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills preferred
  • Must have proven record of compliance: safety, environmental, NERC
  • Experience inside ERCOT preferred
  • Proficient in effectively leading individuals and teams
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities with detailed understanding of electrical generation power plants, including startup, operations and maintenance of equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
