Job summary

The Shelly Company in Ohio seeks a Plant Foreperson to safely control production and loadout of materials in the batch plant, while coordinating with dispatch for timely deliveries.

Key duties include enforcing safety rules, batching to specifications, and maintaining equipment. Weekend shifts and travel may be required to support plant operations and field teams.

Qualifications

  • High School degree required.
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • CDL preferred.
  • ACI Level One (1) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

The Plant Foreperson is responsible for safely controlling production and load out of materials produced in the batch plant, as well as for scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to the plant to perform duties in conjunction with dispatch loading operations.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Enforce company safety rules and conduct safety meetings, including toolbox talks; ensure facilities are operating in a safe manner.
  • Accurately batch concrete load according to specifications. Read dispatch orders and understand required needs for production of materials.
  • Conduct batching operations in an efficient and safe manner while complying with all local, state and federal regulations, including but not limited to: OSHA, MSHA, DEP, etc.
  • Conduct batching functions in a professional manner and ensure compliance with job specifications and all applicable environmental and air quality regulations.
  • Print out invoice tickets on each truck/load and files. Give copy of invoice to truck drivers to obtain customer payment upon delivery of materials as needed.
  • Responsible for efficient working conditions of plant equipment and trucks. Performs maintenance to batch plant which includes greasing parts, sweeping, shoveling, performing equipment repairs, and cleaning.
  • Become proficient in all batching, dispatching & Quality Control Software.
  • Manage plant inventory, including daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
  • Ability to understand appropriate uses of various mix designs.
  • Must complete daily clerical functions including daily paperwork to Division office (customer tickets/inbound materials/packing slips), daily bank deposits, etc.
  • Assist dispatch in scheduling drivers based on customer demand. Be familiar with the delivery areas and assist drivers in finding jobsites.
  • Identify and resolve regulatory, safety, personnel, and production problems, in a timely and effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience
  • High School degree required.
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to pass ACI Level One (1) certification preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
