Job summary

Delaware North Parks and Resorts at Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida is seeking a full-time Plant Maintenance Welder Technician to install, maintain, and repair facilities and equipment. The role requires diagnosing malfunctions, performing MIG/TIG/STICK welding, and supporting building projects with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
  • High-end metal layout and fit-up of complex fabrication, brazing and cutting; related skills preferred.
  • Possession of welding certifications or related licenses is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine repair actions using testing tools and expertise.
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, and electronic repairs on building and food service equipment.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Support facility projects including carpentry, painting, and structural repairs.
  • Inspect and repair roofs, doors, walls, floors, and other components for safe operations.
  • Operate ladders, lifts, and tools safely and maintain proper records.

Delaware North Parks and Resorts is hiring a full-time Plant Maintenance Welder Technician to join our team at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida. As a Plant Maintenance Welder Technician, you will be responsible for performing installations, maintenance, and repairs on facilities and equipment. What will you do?
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions using testing tools, computerized systems, and technical expertise to determine repair requirements and corrective actions.
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, and electronic repairs, installations, and component replacements on building and food service equipment.
  • Execute preventive maintenance programs including inspections, cleaning, adjustments, and operational testing to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Support facility maintenance projects involving construction, carpentry, painting, structural repairs, and installation of building materials and temporary structures.
  • Conduct inspections and repairs of roofs, doors, walls, floors, moldings, trim, and other facility components to maintain safe operations.
  • Operate ladders, man lifts, and specialized equipment safely while maintaining tools, supplies, and work areas in proper working condition.
  • Follow safety procedures, utilize required personal protective equipment, maintain environmental compliance records, and properly handle refrigerants and related materials.
More about you
  • Must be at least 21 years old to apply.
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience, with completion of a certified apprenticeship program or trades school.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience with MIG,TIG,and stick welding.
  • High-end metal layout and fit-up of complex fabrication experience, including brazing, cutting with torch,andband saws; some additionalexperience in other disciplines preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and associated software.
  • Valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation required.
  • Possession of welding certifications, electrical journeyman’s license, Universal Refrigeration Certification, certified public pool service technician, or EPA refrigerant technician preferred.
  • Familiar with computerized maintenance management system to enter working hours and notes.
  • This position requires authorization to work at Kennedy Space Center and completion of all site access requirements.
Physical requirements
  • Ability to wear appropriate safety PPE, such as fall protection, respirator, hearing protection, safety glasses, face shield or goggles.
  • Exposure to heat, dirt, dust, noise, fumes, wetness, paint, and solvents.
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolds, or high lift.
  • Ability to read and interpret codes and blueprints.
  • Frequent standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, and kneeling.
  • Abillity to lift, carry or manipulate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
