Job summary

Knight’s Companies Inc. is seeking a skilled Plant Maintenance Technician to ensure safe, efficient operation of ready-mix plants, precast equipment and related structures. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance, mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, welding, fabrication, and on-site training.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and 4–8 years operating heavy process machinery. Travel up to 50% and rotating shifts may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 4–8 years' experience with heavy process machinery (cement industry preferred).
• Knowledge of industrial mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with OSHA, environmental and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on wet batch and central batch plants, precast equipment, and related structures.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime.
• Inspect machinery and perform repairs to ensure optimal operation and safety.
• Install, repair, and maintain heavy industrial process equipment for production needs.
• Fabricate, weld, and modify parts to restore equipment to service.
• Safely rig, lift, and handle heavy equipment during installations or repairs.
• Maintain maintenance logs and records; provide training to plant managers.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Plant Maintenance Technician to join our team, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our ready-mix concrete plants, precast equipment, and associated plant structures. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional to contribute to operational excellence while promoting a strong safety culture across our facilities.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on wet batch and central batch ready-mix plants, precast equipment, and plant-related structures.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime.
• Inspect plant machinery regularly, recommend, and perform necessary repairs to ensure optimal operation.
• Install, repair, and maintain heavy industrial process equipment to support production needs.
• Fabricate, weld, and modify parts to restore equipment to service.
• Safely rig, lift, and handle heavy equipment during installations or repairs.
• Respond to urgent calls outside of normal business hours.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and document all work in logs.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs with plant managers to provide ongoing maintenance training.
• Coach plant managers on plant maintenance requirements.

What You Need to Be Successful:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 4 to 8 years of experience with heavy process machinery (cement industry preferred)
• Demonstrated knowledge of industrial mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of OSHA, environmental, and safety regulations related to plant operations.
• Skilled in troubleshooting complex plant equipment and systems.
• Proficient in welding, fabrication, and precision alignment techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Effective communication and coaching skills to work with individuals from all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid Driver’s License in state of residence.
• Must be able to work varying work shifts with varying start and stop times.
• Ability to travel overnight 50%.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and 75+ lbs. occasionally with assistance.
• Prolonged standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working in various physical positions.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, dust).
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces as required.
• Manual dexterity to operate tools, precision instruments, and industrial equipment.
• Ability to operate and safely maneuver forklifts, cranes, boom lifts, and other mobile equipment.
