Job summary

Hiland Dairy Foods Company in Dallas, TX, is seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician to perform basic installations, maintain and repair production equipment, and ensure reliable operation per manufacturer specifications. This is a full-time, night-shift, 10-hour days, five days a week role.

Ideal candidates read and write, do basic math, and can work overtime, weekends, and varying shifts. They should be able to work independently or in a team with strong analytical troubleshooting skills and

  • Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately record data required.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required.
  • Must be able to work independently and/or on a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving are required.
  • Must pass pre-employment testing and physical evaluation and be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Perform BASIC preventative maintenance inspection and service on all production and manufacturing equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company guidelines.
  • Perform BASIC troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and maintain equipment to the desired company performance standards.
  • Interface, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic computerized systems and equipment
  • Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset and assisting in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Comply with all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations.
  • Use all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Possess the necessary personal tools to perform duties.

Plant Maintenance Technician

Salary Range: $28.62 To $34.84 Hourly

The Plant Maintenance I performs basic installations, maintains, and repairs production and manufacturing equipment. Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Perform BASIC preventative maintenance inspection and service on all production and manufacturing equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company guidelines.
  • Perform BASIC troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and maintain equipment to the desired company performance standards.
  • Interface, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic computerized systems and equipment
  • Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset and assisting in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Comply with all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations.

  • Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays).
  • Experience with conveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls).
  • Experience with electrical systems (installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting)
  • Experience with electronics (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.).
  • Experience with gearing and gear boxes (rebuilds, ordering parts, machining parts).
  • Experience with hydraulic-high pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, and troubleshooting).
  • Experience with kinematics (e.g., line speed/sprocket size ratios, etc.).
  • Review rating instructions.
  • Experience with high-speed production (e.g., bottling, consumer products, etc.).
  • Experience with pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting).
  • Experience with pneumatics/air compression (e.g., valves, cylinders, etc.).
  • Experience with preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data).
  • Experience with pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs).
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
  • PLC, HVAC, Ammonia, Refrigeration, or other specialty certifications preferred but not required.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or one-year related experience and/or training in manufacturing equipment maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of continued education and experience.
Physical Demand/Working Conditions
  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bend with a full range of body motion.
  • Must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment, extended periods in a cold, damp and hot environment.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
