Job summary

Hiland Dairy Foods Company is seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician in Dallas, TX, to perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment. The role requires strong analytical skills, teamwork, and adherence to safety rules, with opportunities for overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Read, write, do basic math, and accurately record data.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
  • Able to work independently or in a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and systematic troubleshooting abilities.
  • Pass pre-employment testing and a physical evaluation; must be 18+.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and servicing on all production and manufacturing equipment per specs and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment to meet performance standards.
  • Interface with electronic computerized systems; diagnose and repair.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying process improvements.
  • Comply with safety, OSHA, and company policies; use PPE as required.
  • Possess personal tools needed to perform duties.

Plant Maintenance Technician

Salary Range: $28.62 To $34.84 Hourly

The Plant Maintenance performs basic installations, maintains, and repairs production and manufacturing equipment. Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform BASIC preventative maintenance inspection and service on all production and manufacturing equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company guidelines.
  • Perform BASIC troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and maintain equipment to the desired company performance standards.
  • Interface, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic computerized systems and equipment
  • Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset and assisting in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Comply with all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations.
  • Use all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Possess the necessary personal tools to perform duties.

  • Must be able to work independently and/or on a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving are required.
  • Must pass pre-employment testing and physical evaluation and be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays).
  • Experience with conveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls).
  • Experience with electrical systems (installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting)
  • Experience with electronics (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.).
  • Experience with gearing and gear boxes (rebuilds, ordering parts, machining parts).
  • Experience with hydraulic-high pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, and troubleshooting).
  • Experience with kinematics (e.g., line speed/sprocket size ratios, etc.).
  • Review rating instructions.
  • Experience with high-speed production (e.g., bottling, consumer products, etc.).
  • Experience with pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting).
  • Experience with pneumatics/air compression (e.g., valves, cylinders, etc.).
  • Experience with preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data).
  • Experience with pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs).

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations :

  • PLC, HVAC, Ammonia, Refrigeration, or other specialty certifications preferred but not required.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or one-year related experience and/or training in manufacturing equipment maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of continued education and experience.
  • Material Handling Equipment (MHE).

Physical Demand/Working Conditions :

  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bend with a full range of body motion.
  • Must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment, extended periods in a cold, damp and hot environment.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
