Job Description
Summary/objective

Buffalo Rock is an award-winning Pepsi and Keurig Dr Pepper bottler founded in Birmingham, AL more than 123 years ago. The Corporate Plant Maintenance Mechanic position is a key member of the Corporate Maintenance Team that provides support by repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment.

Essential functions

  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. Position is required to work all hours necessary to ensure operations function is fulfilled, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, level, plum bobs, and straightedges.
  • Repairs or replaces functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • May initiate purchase order for parts and machines.
  • May repair electrical equipment.
  • Required to weld and burn.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 pounds maximum.
  • Sets up codes/repairs for production lines.
  • Observe operation of equipment to determine if the problem is with equipment or operator.
  • FOOD SAFETY: Required to follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in the Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110. Required participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes. Required to report potential issues related to Food Safety.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
