Job summary

Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC) in Maine is seeking a supervisory maintenance professional to direct physical plant operations across multiple trades. You will manage a large workforce and coordinate with hospital departments to ensure safe, compliant facilities.

Responsibilities include overseeing heating, water treatment, life safety, and door access systems, and leading maintenance planning for minor projects. Prior experience in a hospital setting is valued.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience managing the maintenance and repair of a physical plant, including building and mechanical trades.
• Experience directing operation and maintenance of high-pressure steam heating plants.
• Boilers Engineer’s License preferred or equivalent credentials.

Responsibilities

• Ensure employees follow policies and procedures to meet applicable standards (e.g., JCAHO, DHS, Medicare/Medicaid).
• Respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed and report to DDPC during emergencies.
• Direct and oversee grounds maintenance, snow removal, and hospital transport operations to maintain a safe environment.
• Direct, monitor, and inspect heating, water treatment, life safety, door access, and sewerage systems operation and maintenance.
• Prepare plans and specs for minor work and schedule maintenance, repairs, and alterations to meet institutional needs.
• Coordinate with hospital departments to ensure the surveillance system serves the hospital’s needs.
