This position performs skilled operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, equipment, and other mechanical systems. This position also performs building construction maintenance and repair, and grounds maintenance as required. This position will also assist the plumber and electrician as necessary so that services are provided in a safe, efficient manner. This position will drive to various MnDOT locations in the West Metro daily.
Note – The incumbent is required to be immediately accessible by phone and be able to report to work within one (1) hour of being called.

Minimum Qualifications
- First Class C Boiler Engineer license or higher from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry;
- Valid Class D Driver’s License with NONE of the following: a major traffic conviction in the past 5 years OR 4 or more minor violations OR 3 or more at-fault accidents in the last 3 years OR any combination of minor violations and at-fault accidents totaling 4 or more occurrences.
Ability to obtain and maintain:
- DOLI Unlicensed Individual Electrical Work Registration within 6 months.
- DOLI Unlicensed Individual Plumbing Work Registration within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the State Boiler Code;
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements;
- Considerable knowledge of standard HVAC practices;
- Familiarity with State Plumbing and Electrical Codes;
- Knowledge of safety and environmental laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; and knowledge of building plans, specifications and construction methods;
- Project management skills;
- Team building skills.
