Job summary

Arcosa Aggregates is looking for an experienced Plant Maintenance Mechanic to travel to plant sites and perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections on equipment including crushers, conveyors, screens, and pumps. Welding, fabrication, and strong safety focus are essential, with daily coordination with plant staff to minimize downtime.

The role requires standing and climbing at times, working in varied outdoor conditions, and a daytime Mon-Fri schedule with possible overtime.

Qualifications

• Must have valid AZ Driver’s License and a clean MVR and be insurable to drive company vehicle.
• Welding experience is required and welding equipment is used regularly.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Must maintain prompt, regular, and predictable attendance.
• Must work safely in a safety-sensitive environment and follow policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency repairs on plant equipment (crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps).
• Conduct screen changes, conveyor belt repairs, wear parts replacements, and crane/crusher liner changes.
• Fabricate or repair plant components using cutting torches and welding equipment.
• Use hand and power tools safely to support maintenance tasks.
• Inspect machinery, document findings, and report needs to prevent failures.
• Rebuild or fabricate parts to extend equipment life and maintain operations.
• Identify safety hazards and ensure compliance with MSHA and company policies.
• Keep equipment and tools organized and safe for operation.
• Assist with general plant operations such as cleaning and material handling.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with operators to improve plant efficiency.

Arcosa Aggregates is seeking an experienced Plant Maintenance Mechanic. This role is responsible for travel to plant sites as needed to perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections on equipment, including crushers, conveyors, screens, and pumps, ensuring safe and efficient operations. This role requires expertise in welding, fabrication, and troubleshooting, along with a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement across multiple locations.

Day to Day

• Perform routine and emergency repairs on plant equipment, including crushers, conveyors, screens, and pumps, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
• Conduct screen changes, conveyor belt repairs and adjustments, wear parts replacements, crusher liner changes, and water pump servicing to maintain plant efficiency.
• Utilize cutting torches, grinders, and welding equipment to fabricate or repair plant components as needed.
• Operate a wide variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively for equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Conduct routine machinery inspections, document findings, and report any repair or service needs to prevent equipment failures.
• Rebuild or fabricate parts when necessary to extend equipment life and maintain plant operations.
• Perform workplace examinations to identify and mitigate safety hazards, ensuring compliance with company and industry safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned equipment, including welders, work trucks, and tools, to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
• Assist with general plant operations, including cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials, to maintain a safe and productive work area.
• Maintain strong communication with plant employees and operators to coordinate maintenance activities and support overall plant efficiency.
• Actively promote a culture of safety awareness and operational improvements through proactive engagement and compliance with all industry regulations.
• Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support plant operations and maintenance goals.

A typical work schedule consists of daytime hours Monday through Friday, may be required to work overtime. Saturdays may be required based on production needs.

About You

• Valid AZ Driver’s License and Clean MVR. Must be insurable to drive company vehicle.
• Must have welding experience.
• Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance.
• Positive, Team-based attitude.
• Must be qualified to work in a safety sensitive environment.
• The ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks up to 60 feet as required.
• The ability to work in varied outdoor environments (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)

Working Conditions

• Must be able to meet all MSHA safety requirements and adhere to company safety policies.
• While most equipment has air conditioning, there will be times when other responsibilities may require periods of work in all weather conditions including heat, cold, wet, dry, and dusty.
• Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as bend and lift-up to 80 pounds.
