Job summary

Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. is seeking a Plant Lead to supervise daily production, ensure safety, and maintain equipment reliability.

This role acts as a bridge between management and frontline teams, organizing shifts and guiding plant personnel to meet targets and uphold high quality and housekeeping standards. You will lead safety meetings, coordinate maintenance with the maintenance supervisor, inspect operations, and assist in planning long-term mining and monthly forecasts.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience, preferably in the Aggregates Industry.
  • Minimum of 1 year Supervisory or progressive leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of plant systems and safety procedures.

Job description

The Plant Lead is a \"working supervisor\" role responsible for the safe and efficient execution of daily production activities. This position bridges the gap between management and frontline operations by coordinating the work of plant employees, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and maintaining equipment reliability. The primary objective is to achieve production targets while fostering a culture of excellence, high-quality output, and meticulous housekeeping.

The Plant Lead communicates standards of excellence in the daily work assignments of assigned teams to meet safety production as outlined by Management. Standards are communicated through stated goals, daily interaction, and team meetings.

KEYDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and organize employee shifts to ensure all daily work assignments meet production goals.
  • Provide input on employee performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary actions or commendations, as necessary.
  • Aid in the training of new hires and co-workers on plant systems, safety procedures, and mobile equipment operation.
  • Complete daily production, safety, and maintenance reports accurately using company software and traditional logs.
  • Implement and enforce all safety rules and procedures set forth by MSHA, state/local agencies, and Martin Marietta’s internal safety standards.
  • Conduct regular safety, housekeeping, and mechanical inspections of all work areas to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Participate in the plant safety committee and lead daily safety meetings to keep the \"Guardian Angel\" culture at the forefront of operations.
  • Operate plant machinery and mobile equipment (loaders, haul trucks, etc.) as needed to support production flow.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Supervisor to schedule and implement preventative and emergency repairs on conveyors, screens, and crushers.
  • Maintain plant appearance standards to reflect a professional and safe environment, ensuring product quality is not compromised by debris or poor organization.
  • Assist management in developing long-term mining plans, profit plans, and monthly production forecasts.
  • Aid in identifying and ordering essential parts (bearings, idlers, pulleys) and supplies to minimize downtime.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education

High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience

Work Experience

3-5 years of experience, preferably in the Aggregates Industry

Minimum of 1 year Supervisory or progressive leadership experience

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs for plant maintenance and equipment servicing.

Required to bend, stoop, climb, and reach. You must be able to maintain three points of contact when climbing on/off machinery or on ladders.

Strong hand-eye-foot coordination is essential for operating hand/foot controls. You must have good depth perception with or without seeing aid for distances up to 150 feet.

Working Conditions

All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet, dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85dbs.

COMPENSATION

The hiring range for this position is $30.00 -$48.00, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The hiring range for this role represents the base compensation we expect to pay for the position at time of hire and does not represent the total possible base pay of the position.
