Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Handles hazardous materials including inventorying, identifying, segregating, and packaging waste material in accordance with Lab Pack policies, procedures and practices and all applicable regulations.


• Occasionally performs onsite services which may include waste collection, consolidation (i.e., bulking, repackaging), sampling, safety/compliance inspections, and other related activities required by the customer/contract.


• Assists other business groups, i.e., Depack, Retail and HHW, for both internal and onsite as needed.


• Prepares shipment of packaged waste by inspecting, labeling, marking, and loading into the transport vehicle.


• Properly completes documentation including shipping papers, Land Disposal Restrictions (LDRs), evaluations/certifications and other required documentation in accordance with appropriate regulations and procedures.


• Follows, understands, and promotes by example, all Health & Safety /Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) procedures including development of on-site Health & Safety plans/JSAs as outlined in the procedures and policies.


• Submits Lab Packs for approval to third-party outlets.


• Performs unknown field testing for classification and packaging for transportation and disposal.


• Mentors and assists new employees in lab pack work duties.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate College degree in General Science or equivalent experience.


• Clean driving record.


• Occasional travel.


• Physical ability to lift and move materials of various weights frequently exceeding 55 lbs.


• Basic understanding of chemistry through general chemistry or biology.


• Advanced knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations.


• Minimum one (1) year lab pack experience.


• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120).


• 40 hours Depack experience.


• 8 hours DOT training.


• PPE training which includes respirators.

Education / Credentials

• BS/BA in a science-related field.
