Job summary

McWane Plant and Industrial in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Quality Manager to lead the product quality program, ensure parts conform to specs, and partner with design, operations and customers to drive improvements.

The ideal candidate has five years in blueprint reading, measurement and visual inspection; NDT experience is a plus, and the role requires coordinating inspections, calibrations, and documentation with the team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum five (5) years of blueprint reading of fabrications, castings, and machined parts.
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience with various types of measuring equipment.
• Minimum (5) years’ experience with visual inspection of parts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure personal and team safety and lead the quality program.
• Develop and maintain quality plans and inspection maps per product specs.
• Precisely measure fabrications, castings, and machined parts with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.
• Generate reports for every job through the plant.
• Coordinate outside UT and X-ray inspections and ensure calibration of tools.
• Lead internal, external, and customer witness testing per specs and standards.
