Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Plant Health Care Technician in Charlottesville, VA. The role outdoors, performing fertilization and pest management for trees, shrubs, and lawns, with pay of $22 per hour to $28 per hour based on experience.

You'll join one of the largest employee-owned companies in the nation, focused on safety, client service, and ongoing training while delivering horticultural and environmental services. This position is full-time and on site.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping preferred.
• Turf, weed, tree and shrub ID, pathology knowledge preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Qualified Plant Health Care Tech training on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving on hire.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Pesticide licenses/certificates preferred if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Performs fertilization and pest management on trees, shrubs and lawns using spray and injection tools.
• Identify and diagnose insects, weeds, fungus conditions and pest-prone areas.
• Educate customers on diagnosis and prescribed pest control and fertilization services.
• Monitor plant health quality and fertilizing methods and report progress to customers and supervisors.
• Operate and maintain equipment (truck and sprayer).

We are currently looking to add a dynamic Plant Health Care Technician to our passionate team of tree care professionals. Your office is outdoors, and you get a new view every day!

Job Duties

• Performs fertilization and pest management on trees, shrubs and lawns using spray and injection tools by performing the following duties
• Cultivate your career and fertilize your future!
• Properly identify and diagnose insects, weeds, fungus conditions and pest prone areas.
• Communicate with and educate the client regarding the diagnosis and the prescribed pest control and fertilization service with customers.
• Continuously monitor plant heath quality and fertilizing methods after application and communicate progress to customers and supervisors.
• Drive, use, maintain and properly operate equipment (truck and sprayer).
