Plant Health Care Technician (State of MI - MDARD Licenses required.)

This is NOT an entry level position; Candidates must have prior work experience in Plant Health Care pesticide application. Animal and Pest Spray Tech experience is a plus but not required for this role. (MDARD licenses required: 6; 3A & 3B and Core, Right of Way are Preferred; the ideal candidate has all of these licenses plus Tree Care licenses.)

STARTING RATE or MINIMUM Rate of Pay for this role IS $20 PER HOUR AND COULD INCREASE DEPENDING ON PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:

· State Pesticide Licenses: The role requires state-issued MDARD pesticide licenses 3A, 3B, and 6 – Core, Right of Way, and Tree Care licenses are preferred.

· Valid Driver's License: Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license.

· Chauffeur’s Endorsement: A chauffeur’s endorsement or license is necessary.

· Previous experience: Minimum of 1 year as a Landscape Pesticide Technician is required.

· DOT Medical card: Preferred candidates already possess one. If not, you must be able to pass a medical exam including a drug test (a federal requirement).

Here’s what you’d do:

We’re seeking a motivated, team-oriented professional for a year-round position working outdoors. Knowledge of plant identification, pests, diseases, and practical experience in spraying, fertilization, and IPM is essential. You will apply control measures and fertilization to trees and shrubs on commercial properties, scout, diagnose, treat sites, and provide feedback on pest populations, diseases, and plant health.

You’d be responsible for:

  • Applying fertilizers and pesticides according to schedule, safety procedures, and label instructions
  • Driving company vehicle to customer locations
  • Responding promptly to customer requests
  • Completing required forms and instructions
  • Performing daily vehicle and equipment inspections
  • Maintaining vehicle and equipment cleanliness and safety
