Job summary

Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service is seeking a Plant Health Care Technician to manage the health of clients’ landscapes, trees, and shrubs. You will work with a team to maintain residential and commercial properties while delivering excellent customer service.

The role requires pesticide application experience, ability to identify trees and pests, proper calibration of spray equipment, and valid applicator licenses in Maine or New Hampshire. A valid driver’s license is also required.

Qualifications

  • Maintains a consistent and positive attendance pattern.
  • Operates spray equipment safely and productively.
  • Tracks and records visits, pesticides used, and quantities.
  • Maintains daily records for internal and state requirements.
  • Identifies trees/shrubs; understands New England landscapes.
  • Identifies tree insects and diseases; determines necessary controls.
  • Mixes pesticides and calibrates equipment.
  • Applies pesticides using hydraulic sprayers, backpack sprayers, misters, granules.
  • Outfits spray vehicles with materials and fills water as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with clients.
  • Comfortable with technology and cloud-based software.

Description

We are seeking a Plant Health Care enthusiast, who is looking to join our Tree and Plant Health Care Division!

The Plant Health Care Technician is responsible for managing the overall health of clients’ landscape, trees and shrubs. They will be working with a team of skilled individuals, as they maintain beautiful residential and commercial properties while providing top notch customer service to our clients.

Requirements
  • Maintains a consistent and positive attendance pattern.
  • Operates all equipment in a safe and productive manner.
  • Tracks and records information, including but not limited to clients visited, pesticides used, and quantity used.
  • Maintains daily records for both in house purposes and as required by the State(s).
  • Understands the spray equipment, how to operate it properly and be able to make basic repairs.
  • Be able to identify trees and shrubs in New England landscapes.
  • Be able to identify tree insects and diseases.
  • Determines whether a control is necessary and what control is appropriate after inspecting plant material.
  • Mixes pesticides and calibrates equipment.
  • Applies pesticides, including but not limited to the use of hydraulic sprayers, backpack sprayers, backpack misters (foggers), and granular applications.
  • Outfits the spray vehicle(s) with appropriate materials, includes filling water into tanks.
  • Communicates effectively with clients.
  • Operates an air spade, which includes the use of an air compressor.
  • Must be comfortable with technology and willing to learn cloud-based software programs
Certificates & Licenses
  • Must possess an applicator's license in Maine, New Hampshire, or both.
  • Categories must be related to Right of Way and Horticulture.
  • DOT Medical card or the ability to obtain one.
  • Supervisory license are a plus and will include higher compensation!
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
