Job summary

Bayer seeks a Plant Health Digital Phenomics Intern to join the Chesterfield, MO team for a 3-month, in-person internship. You will help build and validate digital phenomics solutions by applying image analysis, AI, and data-driven approaches to convert manual disease scoring into high-throughput, quantitative trait extraction guiding breeding decisions.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a graduate degree in a plant science or computational discipline.
• Experience in controlled-environment research and plant disease phenotyping.
• Proficient in data analysis and programming (Python or R) for phenotyping datasets.
• Familiar with computer vision concepts and AI/ML workflows.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Breeding Plant Health team on phenotyping projects.
• Develop and validate automated image analysis pipelines.
• Benchmark AI/ML results against manual scores and genomic data.
