Job summary

University of Maryland is seeking a Manager for the Plant Research Growth Facility to oversee daily greenhouse and growth chamber operations, plant care, and space management. The role requires leading a team, coordinating maintenance, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree with greenhouse production experience; Master’s degree preferred. Experience with automated controls (Priva/Wadsworth) and IPM is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three (3) years of greenhouse production experience. One (1) year of experience leading or supervising professional staff.
• Preferred: Master of Science in Plant Science or related field; experience with automated greenhouse controls (Priva, Wadsworth, or similar systems).
• Licenses: Maryland Pesticide Applicator License required or obtained within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Manage all greenhouse and growth chamber-related operations: plant care and space management; environmental control setup and monitoring.
• Supervise and train greenhouse employees; manage timesheets and performance.
• Purchase and maintain inventory of plant care supplies; coordinate with vendors and ensure regulatory records.
