Job summary

Rise Baking Company is seeking a Plant Controller in Worcester, MA to own plant-level accounting, cost management, budgeting, and financial reporting with EBITDA discipline. You will partner with the Plant Manager to surface margin-improving opportunities, optimize working capital, and deliver insights to leadership.

Responsibilities include close ownership, variance analysis, inventory health monitoring, and standard costing maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a plant or manufacturing finance role.
• Direct experience in food production, food & beverage, consumer products, or process manufacturing environments.
• PE-owned company or similarly high-accountability, metrics-driven environment preferred.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives from a finance support perspective preferred.
• Strong ERP proficiency (SAP or equivalent); intermediate or advanced Excel skills with large data sets.
• Demonstrated mastery of cost accounting methodologies: standard costing, activity-based costing, variance analysis.
• Track record of meeting deadlines and delivering auditable financials.
• Familiarity with food safety financial implications: FSMA, HACCP cost tracking, SQF costs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for the plant P&L and balance sheet, meeting reporting deadlines.
• Prepare and deliver plant-level financial packages with variance analysis vs. budget, prior year, and rolling forecast.
• Maintain a close calendar and ensure timely inputs from operations and supporting functions; ensure accuracy of journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Monitor and report on inventory health, including blocked stock, aging, obsolescence reserves, and slow-moving SKUs.
• Identify cost savings and productivity opportunities related to material, labor, and overhead.
• Deliver concise analyses and financial presentations to plant leadership with insights for operating decisions.
• Lead standard costing design and maintenance, variance analyses, and annual cost roll processes (CapEx alignment included).
• Lead the annual operating plan (AOP) process and rolling 12-month forecast; build direct labor and overhead models.
