The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities within the manufacturing facility, including cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, inventory controls, and financial reporting. This position partners closely with plant leadership to drive operational performance, ensure financial accuracy, maintain compliance with corporate financial policies, and support strategic decision-making that improves profitability and business performance. This position is responsible for providing financial leadership and support to both the Leitchfield, KY and Kyle, TX facilities, while being based at the Leitchfield, KY location.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Lead all plant-level financial planning and analysis activities, including annual budgets, forecasts, and variance reporting.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs including labor, material, scrap, and overhead expenses.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Maintain standard cost systems and oversee cost rollups, inventory valuation, and cost updates.
- Provide financial guidance and recommendations to support business decisions and plant performance improvements.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), corporate policies, and internal control requirements.
- Oversee compliance with SOX requirements and internal control processes, ensuring proper financial governance and risk management throughout the plant.
- Oversee inventory controls, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes.
- Analyze actual manufacturing performance against standard costs and recommend corrective actions to address unfavorable variances.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by partnering with operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to reduce costs and improve overall plant efficiency.
- Develop, monitor, and report key financial and operational metrics to plant and corporate leadership, providing actionable recommendations to improve productivity, inventory management, cash flow, and overall financial performance.
- Support capital expenditure planning and analysis, including return on investment (ROI) and payback calculations.
- Manage and develop plant finance personnel.
- Coordinate financial reporting, audit activities, and compliance requirements with corporate finance teams.
- Support financial analysis related to customer quotations, new business awards, product launches, engineering changes, and other strategic business initiatives.
- Partner with plant leadership to develop action plans that improve profitability, working capital performance, and overall operational effectiveness.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
- CPA and/or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of finance experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience supporting automotive manufacturing operations preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems such as IQMS, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent systems preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Licensing or Special Certification Requirements:
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred.
- CMA (Certified Management Accountant) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent use of computers and office equipment.
- Regular communication with employees, management, and corporate personnel.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to access production areas and perform plant floor observations as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily works in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and industrial conditions.
- Regular presence on the production floor is required.
- Occasional travel to other company facilities, customers, suppliers, or corporate offices may be required.
- Must comply with all company Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, and Housekeeping requirements.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering production areas.
