Job summary

Cabot Corporation seeks a Plant Environmental Manager to lead the SH&E organization at the Franklin, LA facility. You will be responsible for regulatory compliance, Title V permitting, and cost-effective environmental programs, guiding a professional team and collaborating with site leadership.

You will oversee emissions monitoring, regulatory inspections, and continuous improvement of environmental performance across air, water, and waste operations, aligning with RC14001 and Responsible Care

Qualifications

• Bachelor/University degree in Environmental or Safety engineering or related fields.
• 7+ years of related experience (i.e. Title V permitting, waste, water, air, etc).
• Prior manufacturing experience is required.
• Prior leadership/ supervisory experience is desired.
• Strong knowledge of environmental and safety sciences and practices.
• Strong knowledge of national and local regulations.
• Leadership and management skills; ability to motivate and oversee work of a professional staff.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements related to air, water, waste, and chemical manufacturing operations.
• Serve as the primary environmental liaison with regulatory agencies, including the EPA and Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ).
• Manage the site's Title V Air Permit and all environmental permitting activities, including renewals, modifications, and permit-related compliance obligations.
• Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and agency interactions, ensuring timely and effective responses to findings and inquiries.
• Oversee environmental monitoring programs, including emissions testing, Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), and reporting to ensure compliance with permit limits.
• Evaluate capital projects, process modifications, and operational changes to identify environmental impacts, permitting requirements, and compliance risks.
• Develop, implement, and maintain environmental compliance programs, training initiatives, and management systems, including Responsible Care® and RC14001® requirements.
• Lead the investigation, reporting, and resolution of environmental incidents, ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
• Drive continuous improvement in environmental performance, sustainability initiatives, and site environmental metrics to achieve corporate and regulatory objectives.
• Establish environmental goals and provide technical guidance to plant leadership on regulatory requirements, compliance strategies, and environmental risk management.
• Monitor emerging environmental regulations and legislation, assessing impacts to operations and implementing necessary compliance strategies.
• Support reliable operation and optimization of air pollution control systems while building strong relationships with regulators, corporate environmental teams, and community stakeholders.

Your Role at Cabot

Cabot Corporation is seeking a Plant Environmental Manager to join the SH&E organization and leadership team onsite at the Franklin, LA facility. This is an ideal role for a professional with in-depth environmental expertise from the manufacturing industry who enjoys approaching challenges with a positive and proactive attitude. The Franklin facility is one of the most complex carbon black sites in the Cabot network that will lend an opportunity for an individual to leave their mark! This critical role is solely responsible for the plant’s environmental science function through the following key functions:

• Timely and accurate submittal of the Title V and all other environmental permitting processes.
• Facilitates the development and implementation of cost-effective programs and procedures that continuously increase overall awareness in the environmental area to eliminate undesired incidents at the site.
• Works with the local management team to assure local compliance with all applicable plant, company, and governmental policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation.
• Supports the Plant Management Team and Regional / Corporate SH&E to ensure environmental science concerns are identified and managed.
• Reports directly to the Facility General Manager and has one direct report who they will lead and develop further.
