Job summary

Florida's Natural Growers is hiring a Plant Engineering & Utilities Manager to lead the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of critical plant utilities, refrigeration, boiler, and wastewater systems in North Lake Wales, FL. You will oversee engineering activities, projects, and compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, IIAR, and local regs.

The role requires a strong engineering background, 5+ years in utilities/maintenance, and supervisory experience in a regulated manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, mechanical/electrical systems, or a related technical field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial utilities, maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is required
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following: Industrial refrigeration, Boiler and steam systems, Wastewater treatment, Industrial utilities, Mechanical systems, Electrical systems, Plant engineering
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical documentation, P&IDs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, environmental, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in beverage, food, dairy, or other regulated manufacturing environments strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and maintenance oversight of refrigeration systems and associated equipment.
  • Ensure refrigeration systems are operated safely, efficiently, and within established operating parameters.
  • Maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs for refrigeration equipment.
  • Monitor system performance, energy consumption, and reliability.
  • Ensure required inspections, documentation, and regulatory requirements are completed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, IIAR standards, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Plant Services employees and contractors.
  • Coordinate daily work activities and prioritize work based on plant operational needs.
  • Support equipment specifications, contractor coordination, project execution, and commissioning.

As a Plant Engineering and Utilities Manager at Florida's Natural, you'll be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the plant's critical utility and infrastructure systems. This position provides leadership and technical oversight for industrial refrigeration, boiler systems, wastewater treatment, facility utilities, and plant engineering activities and reports to the Vice President of Operations.

What you'll do:
  • Provide operational and maintenance oversight of industrial refrigeration systems and associated equipment.
  • Ensure refrigeration systems are operated safely, efficiently, and within established operating parameters.
  • Maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs for refrigeration equipment.
  • Monitor system performance, energy consumption, and reliability.
  • Ensure required inspections, documentation, and regulatory requirements are completed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, IIAR standards, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), incident investigations, and emergency response planning.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, training, and accountability.
Boiler and Steam Systems
  • Oversee the safe and reliable operation of boilers, steam systems, condensate systems, and related equipment.
  • Ensure boiler maintenance, inspections, testing, and water treatment activities are completed as required.
  • Monitor boiler performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and repairs involving boiler and steam systems.
  • Maintain required operating records and documentation.
Wastewater Treatment
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the plant wastewater treatment operation.
  • Ensure wastewater systems are operated in compliance with applicable environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure required testing, reporting, inspections, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Troubleshoot wastewater treatment issues and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve treatment efficiency, reliability, and operating cost.
Engineering & Plant Infrastructure
  • Provide engineering support for plant utilities, infrastructure, and equipment modifications.
  • Assist with the development, planning, and execution of projects related to plant services and utilities.
  • Support equipment specifications, contractor coordination, project execution, and commissioning.
  • Participate in equipment and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise during troubleshooting of complex utility and infrastructure problems.
Leadership & Maintenance
  • Lead, coach, and develop Plant Services employees and contractors.
  • Establish clear expectations for safety, performance, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Coordinate daily work activities and prioritize work based on plant operational needs.
  • Partner with Maintenance leadership to ensure preventive and corrective maintenance activities are properly planned and executed.
  • Promote a proactive approach to equipment reliability and defect elimination.
Reliability & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators for plant services.
  • Analyze equipment failures, downtime, utility consumption, and operating trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce energy, water, chemical, and utility costs.
  • Support reliability-centered maintenance and preventive/predictive maintenance strategies.
What we're looking for:
