Job summary

3M is seeking a Plant Engineering Supervisor to lead the maintenance team in our Missouri facility. You will oversee maintenance activities on equipment, systems, and facilities to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness and reliability.

You will schedule tasks, provide technical direction, and work to improve equipment performance while promoting a safe, compliant, and efficient plant environment. Travel and relocation may be required.

Qualifications

• Eight years of manufacturing and/or maintenance experience in private, public, government or military environments.
• Associate degree with four years of plant maintenance and/or manufacturing experience in a similar environment.
• Bachelor's degree with four years of manufacturing and/or maintenance experience in a similar environment.
• Previous supervisory/management experience in private, public, government or military environments.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all maintenance functions to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Schedule, assign and direct maintenance tasks; provide technical direction and diagnose equipment problems.
• Identify and support efforts to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Promote a safe and sustainable working environment by modeling safe behaviors and addressing safety issues.
• Represent plant leadership across the plant, including shift coverage and on-call duties.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The person hired for the position of Plant Engineering Supervisor will supervise and manage all functions of the maintenance departments involved in the production of 3M products.

Here, you will make an impact by:

• Provide supervision and technical direction to Plant Engineering personnel for performance of maintenance tasks on machines, systems, and facilities to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness. May include oversite of Plant Engineering support functions such as custodial, stockroom, security, etc. May include responsibility for procuring specialty maintenance parts
• Schedule, assign, and direct personnel in performance of tasks for maintenance of equipment and facilities. Provide technical direction to personnel and assist in diagnosing equipment problems as required. Monitor progress and evaluate completed assignments to confirm use of correct procedures and to evaluate quality of work
• Identified and supports business efforts to drive improvement in equipment reliability
• Promoting a safe and sustainable working environment through modeling safe behaviors as well as recognizing and resolving safety related problems
• Representing plant leadership team through supporting initiatives across the plant, including but not limited to supervision coverage for alternative shifts, being on-call and servicing as a primary plant management representative

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to the start) from an accredited institution and Eight (8) years of manufacturing and/or maintenance experience in a private, public, government or military environment

OR

• Associate’s degree in an Industrial Maintenance technical field and Four (4) years of plant maintenance and/or manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

OR

• Bachelor’s Degree of higher (completed and verified prior to start) from accredited institution and Four (4) years of manufacturing and/or maintenance experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Previous supervisory and/or management experience in a private, public, government of military environment
• Experience with participating in daily tier management process and participating in improvement projects (kaizens)

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
