Job Summary

As the Plant Engineer at IFF, you will support the site’s Engineering and Maintenance functions by ensuring equipment reliability and maintainability, optimizing processes, and managing capital projects to drive operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, lead, and implement programs, systems, processes, and equipment upgrades to improve equipment reliability and OEE, including preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting guides, and training.
  • Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to eliminate defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Use the site’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (e.g., SAP) to create or update maintenance plans and evaluate PPM effectiveness. Define critical spare parts to ensure availability.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics using the TrakSys platform to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and develop solutions.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on reliability and process improvements.
  • Present findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
  • Support mechanical shutdown activities, providing input on equipment inspection and repair procedures.
  • Lead elements of the site’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program related to equipment reliability.
  • Manage capital projects from conception to completion, ensuring they meet time and budget constraints.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Prepare project documentation, including feasibility studies, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
  • Work environment involves both office and manufacturing plant settings, with daily contact with maintenance staff and other departments.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in engineering roles focusing on capital projects and maintenance/reliability in the food or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proficiency in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies.
  • Experience with machine troubleshooting and process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., EcoSys).
  • Certifications such as CMRP, CRE, PE, PMP, or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt are preferred.
  • Knowledge of GMP in food processing, mechanical and machine design, materials science, electrical engineering, instrumentation, and process control systems like SCADA and HMI.
