Job summary

Evonik Corporation is seeking a plant engineer to provide system support for infrastructure and GMP equipment. You will act as a system owner, driving reliability improvements and coordinating maintenance across utilities and process systems.

The role calls for a degree in engineering with 1–3 years of relevant experience, collaboration with QA, Validation, EHSS, and external vendors, and adherence to EHS and cGMP standards. Hybrid work options may apply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Biomedical, or related).
  • 1–3 years of plant engineering or system maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand, operate, and troubleshoot plant infrastructure and GMP process equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide plant engineering support for assigned infrastructure, utilities, and GMP process equipment systems.
  • Serve as system owner and technical SME, ensuring systems are reliable, compliant, and operational.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to increase reliability, reduce downtime, and control costs.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance, calibration, and corrective work are prioritized and documented.
  • Support capital and operational projects, including budgeting and CAPEX management.
  • Maintain system lifecycle documentation and validation (URS, risk assessments, qualification).
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, quality, and cGxP regulations; participate in audits and change control.

Research, design, develop, or test electronic components and systems for commercial, industrial, or scientific use employing knowledge of electronic theory and materials properties. Design electronic circuits and components for use in fields such as telecommunications, aerospace guidance and propulsion control, acoustics, or instruments and controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide plant engineering support for assigned infrastructure, utilities, and GMP process equipment systems.
  • Serve as the system owner and technical SME, ensuring systems remain reliable, compliant, and operational.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to increase reliability, reduce downtime, and control operational costs.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance, calibration, and corrective work are properly prioritized, documented, and completed.
  • Support capital and operational projects, including budgeting, business cases, and occasionally managing smaller CAPEX projects.
  • Maintain system lifecycle documentation and validation, including URS, risk assessments, and qualification activities.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, quality, and cGxP regulations, including participating in audits, investigations, and SOP development.
  • Investigate deviations and manage change controls and CAPAs using systems such as TrackWise to maintain regulatory compliance.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Biomedical, or related) with 1–3 years of plant engineering or system maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Ability to understand, operate, and troubleshoot plant infrastructure, utilities, and GMP process equipment such as fill lines, autoclaves, HVAC systems, tanks, pumps, and clean utilities (WFI, clean steam, nitrogen, etc.).
  • Assist with engineering projects, troubleshooting, system improvements, and lifecycle management from design through startup and operation.
  • Work closely with Operations, QA, Validation, Maintenance, EHSS, Project Engineering, Procurement, and external vendors to support plant systems and projects.
  • Follow EHS, safety protocols, PPE requirements, and cGMP standards while supporting audits, deviation investigations, and change control activities.
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings, manage tasks within budgets and timelines, and use standard business software.
