Job summary

Bayfront Health seeks an experienced energy plant operator to operate and maintain boilers, chillers, generators and related systems at Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL in a 24/7 facility.

You will monitor control screens, perform preventative maintenance, document logs, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission and state/federal requirements. Candidates should have strong troubleshooting and teamwork skills in a hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in building trades or energy plant operations.
• Three years of experience if a trade or vocational school graduate.

Responsibilities

• Monitors control screens and meters to ensure equipment operates properly.
• Starts, stops and switches boilers as needed.
• Cleans and repairs boilers, blows tubes and discharges sediment; pumps as required.
• Starts and stops chillers to maintain setpoints and efficiency.
• Checks cooling towers and regulator feed water.
• Keeps logs for chemical treatment of boiler and cooling water.
• Conducts and documents generator testing.
• Operates switchgear to regulate and transfer power loads.
• Completes preventive and corrective maintenance work orders; records data in the system.
• Logs operating information and maintains records for compliance with regulations and Joint Commission guidelines.
• Coordinates and documents fire and life safety inspections and testing.
• Assists in training other plant engineers on energy plant operation/maintenance skills.
• Maintains attendance and compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

• Monitors control screens and observes various meters and gauges to ensure equipment is operating properly.
• Starts, stops and switches over boilers as appropriate.
• Cleans and repairs boilers, blow tubes and discharge sediment, and pumping equipment.
• Starts and stops chillers to maintain setpoints and efficiency.
• Checks and monitors cooling towers and regulates feed water.
• Keeps appropriate logs for chemical treatment to boiler and cooling system water.
• Conducts and documents generator testing.
• Operates switchgear to regulate and transfer power loads.
• Completes assigned preventative and corrective maintenance work orders and ensures work order data is captured in TMS.
• Log all pertinent operating information and maintains records to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and Joint Commission guidelines.
• Coordinates, conducts and documents all fire and life safety measures to include inspections and testing to ensure compliance with policies.
• Assists in training other plant engineers with energy plant operation/maintenance specific skills.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
