Job summary

Bridgestone Americas in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Director (M5) within engineering leadership to guide multiple specializations and regional functions. The role requires influencing executive leadership, managing multiple teams, and delivering key business results.

You will shape long-term strategy, oversee improvement initiatives, and coach direct reports while engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; 10+ years of relevant experience including 7+ years management or leadership experience
• Or Master’s degree; 8+ years of relevant experience including 5-7 years management or leadership experience
• Experience leading multiple engineering specializations and cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Develops and ensures adoption and execution of long-term functional strategy and direction of the department
• Oversees continuous improvement/automation implementation activities through management of multiple teams led by senior managers and managers
• Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures achievement of key business results/strategy
• Leverages institutional knowledge for strategy development
• Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Influences, coaches, and develops direct reports/department

Position Summary

The Multiple Engineering Specializations position has responsibility for more than one Specialization within their group. The Director (M5) position is typically accountable for a function encompassing multiple domestic regions, or a key operational sub-department for an entire country. This position requires the ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and the ability to communicate and influence executive leadership on a regular basis.
