Position: Plant Engineer
The Problem:

Growth and new product development initiatives have led to the need to add a Plant Engineer to help lead and handle the engineering aspects of new development projects related to building additions, manufacturing equipment additions, and equipment modernizations.

The Company:

A leading and growing multi-site polymer products company. We are seeking a Plant Engineer with strong capital equipment, capital project, and maintenance experience to be a key part of our growth and improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate enjoys being hands-on and in the middle of the action where machinery is being installed and where equipment problems occur.

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the engineering aspects of new capital projects for equipment and plant, collaborating with vendors.
  2. Manage plant expansions, equipment and tooling specifications, acquisition, and installation.
  3. Analyze equipment and machinery performance and reliability issues, applying root-cause analysis.
  4. Ensure safety is prioritized with all plant and equipment modifications or installations.
  5. Establish preventative and predictive maintenance guidelines, ensuring proper documentation or manuals exist for machinery.
  6. Participate in capacity and utilization studies, working with teams to improve machinery performance.
  7. Support manufacturing operations and engage in continuous improvement activities related to plant engineering.
  8. Assist in updating Standard Operating Procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a 4-year technical degree, or a combination of technical training and experience.
  • At least 5 years of plant engineering and maintenance experience.
  • Experience in the plastics industry or similar manufacturing environment, with equipment such as motors, drives, air compressors, chillers, grinders, water pumps, PLC/HMI controls, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulics.
  • Experience with plant expansions and equipment such as HVAC, incoming 3-phase power, plumbing, ventilation, and familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Direct involvement with safety systems related to maintenance, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
