Job summary

Pregis Corporation in Elgin, IL, is seeking a Plant Electrician for a day shift (6:00 AM–6:00 PM). You will perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on production and utility equipment and troubleshoot PLCs and AC/DC drive systems to keep lines running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has a PLC certification and at least 1 year of maintenance experience in manufacturing, with solid mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

• PLC certification required.
• 1+ year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
• Familiar with maintenance work order systems and technical drawings.
• Proficient with hand/power tools, meters, and material handling equipment.
• Welding and machining experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on production and utility equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLCs and AC/DC drive systems.
• Read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical documents.
• Complete preventive maintenance checks and document work in CMMS.
• Support line systems (lubrication, resin delivery, etc.) to ensure smooth operations.
• Communicate equipment issues to maintenance and production teams.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow sanitation protocols.
• Track and report parts usage and inventory levels.
• Follow all safety and compliance standards (OSHA, MSS, SOPs).
• Perform other duties as needed.
