Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Facilities Electrical Engineer to maintain and improve the electrical infrastructure supporting safe, reliable vehicle manufacturing at our Lansing-area plant.

The role partners with Facilities, Maintenance, and Manufacturing Engineering to manage high- and low-voltage systems, conduct safety reviews, and lead projects from planning through commissioning in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent.
• Experience with industrial electrical systems and safety practices.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and diagrams clearly.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and project-management skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and maintain engineering records.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource for electrical distribution across plant systems.
• Support safe operation and maintenance of substations, switchgear, and panels.
• Maintain power distribution schematics, lighting databases, and documentation.
• Develop, review, and approve switching plans and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with GM Electrical Safety Written Program.
• Coordinate outages and restoration activities to minimize downtime.
• Investigate incidents and track corrective actions to closure.
• Plan and support preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
• Lead or support electrical projects from scope to closeout.
• Review designs and field installations for code compliance and maintainability.
• Coordinate with utilities for testing and outages; support energy initiatives.
