Job summary

Colgate-Palmolive is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager for our Tonganoxie plant. You will lead strategic development and execution of all EHS programs, report to the Director of Manufacturing, and guide the local EHS team to ensure regulatory compliance and a culture of safety excellence.

You will drive site-wide safety transformation, minimize environmental impact, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across plant operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of functional EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years of direct supervisory experience managing EHS teams or functions.
• Demonstrated expertise in OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory compliance management (air, water, waste, stormwater).
• Master’s degree in Safety, Environmental Management, or Industrial Hygiene (preferred).
• Professional certification in Environmental or Safety practices (e.g., CSP, CIH) (preferred).
• Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) or food safety/anti-bioterrorism regulatory environments (preferred).
• Willingness to travel up to 10% (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Direct local EHS team members and partner with plant leadership to establish, execute, and monitor the facility's EHS plan and KPIs.
• Oversee compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and internal standards; liaise with regulators for inspections/audits.
• Lead sitewide safety engagement, incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and emergency preparedness.
• Manage site waste streams, permitting, and industrial hygiene programs; drive energy, water, and waste reduction projects.
• Oversee high-hazard controls and ensure annual compliance training programs are executed.
