Job summary

Smithfield Foods is hiring a Cost Accountant in Minnesota to support plant reporting, month-end close, and BOM integrity. This role emphasizes GAAP compliance, data accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration within a large manufacturing operation.

You will work in an office setting with some production area exposure, perform standard cost rollups, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end tasks while leveraging SAP and MS Office tools. Relocation may be offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Food Industry/Meat related experience is preferred.
• SAP experience is preferred.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to work well in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Perform weekly/quarterly standard cost rollup functions.
• Complete corporate month-end close tasks adhering to the close schedule.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Compile weekly/monthly operations finance reports for distribution.
• Manage Bill of Material audits to satisfy corporate policies and coordinate with plants.
• Enter BOM and Routing information for new products and maintain current products.
• Maintain and create Raw/WIP codes and all market quote codes.
• Reconcile GR/IR and manage daily Co-Pack invoice process.
• Maintain account mapping and support plant close activities.
